SPAL USA: General Information
SPAL USA has been importing products from Italy since 1989 as a part of the Ruan Transportation family, but was recently acquired by SPAL Italy. The North American division is housed in a 40,000 square foot building in Ankeny, Iowa. In addition to the warehouse and distribution center they have in house research and development and engineering teams that provides customers with specialty automotive electrical systems and components.
Founded in Correggio, Italy (Reggio Emilia) in 1959, SPAL initially specialized in plastic mold design and production. They have been designing, producing and marketing high performance axial fans and centrifugal blowers for mobile equipment manufacturers for more than 30 years. Their constant focus on research and development has earned an excellent reputation for high quality, state-of-the-art products.
At SPAL, the goal is to build the best products on the market. This is evidenced by the customer base. Spal products can be found on everything from European sports cars such as the Ferrari Enzo to Polaris ATVs, from CAT heavy industrial equipment to NASCAR Nextel Cup racecars.
These companies all require the finest in performance and longevity, which they find in each and every SPAL component.
Since 1985, Spal has also been producing a wide range of aftermarket products such as electric windows, alarms, anti-theft devices and central locking systems. Like the OEM product line, the aftermarket products offer outstanding engineering quality, reliability and universal applicability.
They also develop and manufacture custom designed, value-added systems and components for OEM and aftermarket applications. Spal's in-house design and engineering group can solve any electrical problems one may have.
The headquarters is located in Correggio, Italy, and covers an area of more than 270,000 square feet accommodating over 450 employees. This facility houses the main engineering, research and development, and manufacturing departments. From creating the injection molds for plastic parts, such as fan blades, to winding motors, to testing of products to meet or exceed ISO standards. They control all areas of manufacturing to ensure the highest quality and performance.
SPAL has become a global company with three main facilities: the parent company in Italy; the North American division, SPAL USA; and an Asian division, SPAL China.
In order to support our customers in Mainland China and SE Asia, SPAL China was established in June 2001. Located in Shanghai, SPAL Shanghai operates a 10,600 square foot warehouse and distribution center.
